An early 19th century desk chair in mahogany, the deep lightly concave backrest with boxwood stringing and with downswept arms with scrolling ends on S supports to the generous drop in seat on turned supports to the front and sabre legs at the back. Scandinavian, probably Danish, circa 1830. Height to midway down the arms: 61 cm.
Condition: Excellent; the chair is robust and solid and remarkably comfortable to sit on. The arms are relatively low and the chair could fit partway under a desk. The seat was recently recovered and the material is in good condition.
